Late 18th Century Antique Korean Money Trunk

$2,065.00
This antique Korean hardwood money chest or trunk features its original hand-forged iron latch plate with a pierced design, corner mounts, and hinges. The top is hinged at the center. During the five-century Joseon Dynasty in Korea, paper money was not in use. Instead, small coins were used, leading to the accumulation of a heavy load, which needed to be securely stored in sturdy and well-constructed chests.
